How Chipley Arrests Become Records
Chipley runs its own police force. The Chipley Police Department writes the incident and arrest reports, while the Washington County Jail opens a separate intake record at booking. Related files, but never one file. FDLE's 2020 arrest report treats the city department and the Sheriff's Office as two agencies. So the reporting-agency field tells you which office holds the report you need. The official Chipley Police Department page lists the agency's public contact details.
The city route exists on its own terms. Chipley police do not publish a daily arrest feed. As county seat and the largest town in Washington County, Chipley counted 3,660 residents in the 2020 Census. Size does not decide who makes an arrest, though. A deputy, a state officer, or another agency can book someone at a Chipley address. The jail roster names the reporting agency on visible entries. Read that field before sending any request.
Where Chipley Arrests Appear
The city posts no daily arrest log, blotter, or booking roster on its official pages. That makes the county jail roster the first stop for anyone. That includes anyone who may be in custody. City police reports and the court docket sit behind separate doors. News coverage and commercial indexes come last, as leads only.
| Channel | Photo | Status | Best use |
|---|---|---|---|
| WCSO inmate roster | Shown for inspected entries | Official | Current county-jail custody, booking time, and reporting agency |
| Chipley public records | Ask custodian | Official | Chipley PD incident and arrest records |
| Civitek court search | No booking-photo focus | Official-linked | Case events and final disposition |
| Washington County News | Often, not always | Secondary news | Weekly county jail reports and older coverage |
| County commercial indexes | Often | Unofficial | Leads only; may be stale or incomplete |
Order matters here. A secondary site can leave an old booking photo posted long after release, while the live roster drops a person once custody changes. Neither page carries the court's final word. For that, go to the agency that owns the fact.
Find a Chipley Arrest Booking
Match the question to the custodian. Custody questions belong to the jail. The arrest story belongs to the arresting agency. After release, WCSO Records may still hold the booking record even though the live card is gone. The Washington County recent-arrests hub walks through the roster and booking-photo path in more detail.
- Search the WCSO roster by name and open the “Read More” view for a possible match.
- Compare the booked date and time with the custody-status date. They describe different events.
- Read the holding-facility and reporting-agency fields. Do not infer the arresting agency from a Chipley address alone.
- If no current card appears, call Washington County Jail for time-sensitive custody information.
- Request the booking record from WCSO and the arrest report from Chipley PD when both agencies hold part of the event.
Washington County Jail sits at 1100 Brickyard Road in Chipley. The phone number is (850) 638-6110. Its public roster shows limited depth, and no refresh schedule is promised. A missing card does not rule out an arrest. Release, transfer, restricted data, a posting delay, or newer entries pushing it out of view can all explain the gap.
Note: For a very fresh Chipley booking, intake, data entry, image work, and web publication may occur at different times.
Chipley Police Arrest Records
For city records, the Police Chief serves as custodian under Florida's public-record law. Requests go through in person, email, phone, or mail, and anonymity is allowed. The city can redact exempt material. Heavy demands on staff or IT resources may trigger a special service charge. No fixed response time is promised, and no booking-photo fee is published. The Chipley Public Records page spells out the route and its limits.
Note: this page separates a city police report request from a county jail booking request.
- Give the full name, a useful date range, and the place of the incident if known.
- Ask for the incident or arrest report and identify any booking photograph sought.
- If jail intake is involved, ask WCSO Records separately for the booking card, charge sheet, photo, and release record.
- Request an estimate before authorizing extensive search or copying work.

Two Chipley Record Custodians
One Chipley arrest can leave files in two offices. Chipley PD keeps the field report, the probable-cause narrative, and related city records. WCSO holds the intake card, custody status, booking photo, and release or commitment papers. An answer from one office says nothing about the other. Either custodian can point you to the right holder. The WCSO records form takes public-record requests. It also lets you leave the name or business field blank for anonymity. Include the full legal name, date of birth, aliases, a possible booking date, and a booking number. No turnaround or photo fee is guaranteed. Records Custodian Terisa Hayes handles requests. Reach her at records@wcso.us or (850) 638-6070. Her office sits at 711 Third Street in Chipley.
Chipley Arrest and Status Times
WCSO's detail view lists two clocks. One is the booked date and time. The other marks the custody-status change reported by the jail. A bond posting, transfer, or release can push the second well past the first. Treat neither as the arrest time unless the arrest report itself says so.
- Booking
- The jail intake process that creates the custody record and may include a photograph.
- Custody status
- The current state shown by the custody source, with its own update date.
- Disposition
- The court outcome, which may differ from charges listed at booking.
WCSO publishes no lag time for new entries. When timing matters, call the jail. For the case outcome, use the court search rather than the intake label.
Chipley Arrest Reports in News
Newspapers still do some of this work. The Washington County News runs a countywide mugshot and crime section, plus a weekly arrest report built from jail records. Each report spans seven days. Washington County Jail gets the credit as the source. Photos show up often. When none exists, the paper prints "PHOTO NOT AVAILABLE." So treat it as multi-day news coverage rather than a live Chipley roster.
Commercial indexes add another layer. RecentlyBooked, for instance, claims a rolling inventory of roughly the last 30 days on its county page. Neither service is official. A "Chipley" tag on an entry does not mean Chipley police made the arrest. Before trusting a secondary listing, confirm it against WCSO, Chipley PD, or the court docket.
The weekly format has real strengths and real limits. Publication dates can trail the booking date. Some entries lack photos. On the plus side, the archive keeps older coverage alive even after a live roster card vanishes. It just cannot tell you whether someone is still in custody today.
